Colored Pencil Drawing Class with Susan Antin, Wednesday mornings, 10 - 12 starting April 27
This course is an introduction to the exciting and diverse world of colored pencil drawing. It’s a class for those who want to have fun creating and learning! Students will utilize a variety of exercises to learn about techniques such as: layering, hatching, blending, and shading. In addition, a variety of papers and drawing tools will be explored. The session will cover the use of color, light and shading, and colored pencil with other media will be introduced. Drawing exercises, as well as finished drawings will be produced. The class is for both beginners and those who have a drawing background. All levels, ages High School through Adults.

Watercolor Class with Frank Pietrucha, Saturday mornings, 10 - 12 starting April 30
Experiment with color, value, composition and a variety of techniques to make lovely, interesting watercolors. Emphasizing personal creativity, students will be encouraged to express their individuality. Demonstration of techniques will be given. Student will work from still life and photographs. All levels, ages High School through Adults.

Teacher Bios: >About Susan Antin:Susan has a BA in Fine Art - Painting and Drawing, from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts – because of a strong interest in the business world. While continuing to develop her artwork, she established a career in marketing and corporate training. Presently, she spends time creating, teaching art classes and promoting the arts. Her paintings and drawings can be found in numerous private collections. Susan has been represented in many exhibitions, including the Westmoreland Nationals, Westmoreland College, Pennsylvania; Montgomery Center for the Arts, Montgomery,NJ, Johnson & Johnson Corporate Gallery, Skillman, NJ and Princeton Arts Council, Princeton, NJ. Susan currently lives in suburban New Jersey with her adoring husband and two indifferent cats. She is actively involved in promoting the arts and encouraging other artists. About Frank Pietrucha: Frank Pietrucha paints both representational and abstract watercolors in his Bernards Township studio. The artist has also created sculptures in paper and mixed-media. For a number of years he worked as a graphic designer for several major corporations and cultural institutions. He has had one-person shows at the AT&T Gallery, the Kosciuszko Foundation, the Doubletree Gallery, the Polish Cultural Foundation and the Montclair Art Museum, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and the Paper Mill Playhouse, among many other venues. His work is in the permanent collections of the Montclair Arts Museum, the Herbert F.l Johnson Museum at Cornell University, the NYNEX Corporation, as well as numerous private collections.

Farmstead Arts is a not for profit, volunteer-run arts center located at 450 King George Road in Basking Ridge, NJ at the historic Kennedy Martin Stelle Farmstead. The center offers classes, art shows, concerts and workshops by professional and emerging artists in the performing, visual and practical arts. The farmhouse, which dates back to the 1700’s, is listed on the National and State Historic Registers, along with the English barn and other outbuildings. The center sits on a bucolic four acre parcel of land that is nestled above the banks of the Passiac River.
